THE HIGH PRESS STORY
No, Mom, it wasn’t a phase… but it doesn’t have to be about breakups anymore, either!
High Press (Tampa, FL) has their hearts and talents set on becoming the ultimate third-wave pop-punk/emo band we all need.
Founded in 2024 after a particularly heartbreaking Chelsea F.C. loss, High Press offers a fresh sound for anyone longing for the angst of their favorite emo music, but with lyrics that press into the existential dread of being in your thirties under the unreasonable pressures of society. Their catchy hooks, relatable lyrics, and wild stage antics will make you want to dance, cry, laugh, and maybe throw an elbow or two all at once.
Members Vagner Lage (vox/guitar), Billy Luckett (guitar), Tyler Balkcom (bass), RJ Taylor (guitar/vox), and RJ Kerker (drums) combine for over 20 years of live music to deliver an unforgettable experience every time they hit the stage.
Their latest single, Sunshine State, is a Florida anthem for anyone who has ever lived (or even visited) the wildest state of the Union. With catchy hooks and snarky verses about book bans, retirees, Florida Man, and "Don't Say, Gay,” High Press points out how things in Florida are seldom what they seem to be. Be warned, this track will keep you humming all summer. Like one of Florida’s sinkholes, once it’s got you, you’ll never really escape it!
